Celebrating 50 years of Excellence in Early Childhood Learning in Kingston Ontario 1967-2017

Kingston Day Care was incorporated in 1967 and is a charitable, non-profit organization operated by a Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is accountable for the delivery of services, ensuring that services are responsive and reflective of community need.

Expansion of our child care settings has always been planned in a rational way to ensure a stable, viable system of services. Our financial statements reflect effective, efficient and accountable practices.

Today, we are proud to offer quality early learning programs at St. Martha Child Care Centre, Trillium Child Care Centre, Collins Bay Child Care Centre, and Our Lady of Lourdes Before and After School Programs.

  • KDC opens the first licensed non-profit preschool centre in the city of Kingston.

  • KDC moves into the R.H. Hay Centre, this would be their home for the next 24 years.

  • KDC is awarded the contract to work in partnership with Algonquin & Lakeshore Catholic District School Board providing child care for children from infancy to 12 years of age. St. Martha Child Care Centre is our largest centre, offering space for 157 children.

  • To further address the growth in Kingston East, KDC opens a child care centre in Rideau Town Centre: Rideau Child Care Centre. The challenge of balancing commercial lease rates and maintaining affordable daily rates for clients instigated the closure of that program in 2012.

  • KDC partners with Limestone District School Board and opens Collins Bay Child Care Centre, providing care for 79 children from infancy to 12 years of age.

  • KDC opened a licensed child care program in partnership with Trillium Specialty Care and the Dacon Corporation to create a unique opportunity to address community child care needs within an intergenerational facility. Trillium Child Care Centre provides care to 29 children from infancy to 5 years of age.

  • Kingston Day Care made the decision to transfer the licensed Home Child Care Program to another licensed home child care agency.

  • Kingston Day Care was awarded the contract to operate Before and After School programs in partnership with Algonquin & Lakeshore Catholic District School Board at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic school.  Our Lady of Lourdes Before & After School Programs offers extended day programs for children from Kindergarten age to 12 years.
